ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Lebanon Valley closed out the dual match portion of its 2015 fall schedule with a 6-2 road victory over Eastern on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 13.
The Flying Dutchmen (1-2) took an early lead doubles play as the team's number one duo of
Jonathan Hastings and
Nick Jones and number pairing of
Yale Maier and
David To emerged victorious. Maier and To had to play extra tennis to take down Ryan Ellison and Antonio Lopez 9-7.
In singles play, however, LVC's depth proved too much for the Eagles to withstand as
Jonathan Hastings won two unanswered sets to beat Mitchel Weaver 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the number two slot while
Jordan Heavel's 6-4, 7-6 (10-9) victory over Jackson Wetherbee in a battle of number threes also went long.
Elliott Kleckner won two straight sets to earn a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 decision in the four hole and To's 6-2, 6-1 handling of Lopez in the six slot gave the Dutchmen a victory to end team play this fall. Maier led his number five match before it was called due to darkness. It will be completed this weekend.
Lebanon Valley individual players will compete at this weekend's two-day Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championship Tournament in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
