ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Lebanon Valley battled Elizabethtown through four three-set singles matches, but ultimately fell 5-4 in their Commonwealth Conference opener.

The match was decided by No. 1 singles after the Dutchmen (3-5, 0-1 CC) fought back with three wins in the middle of the order to force a 4-4 tie. Cole Turula outlasted Ryan Weitzel, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, to clinch the win for the Blue Jays (2-3, 1-0 CC).

Sam Calabria, Brent Greco, and Cody Manmiller all won in three at Nos. 3-5 to keep LVC in it. Calabria rallied back from a set down to beat Ryan Caris 2-6, 6-3, 6-1, as did Greco in his 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over Alex Machalick. Manmiller won 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 against Joe Kirchner at No. 5.

LVC's other point came at No. 1 doubles where Weitzel and Jordan Shankroff won 8-2.

Lebanon Valley will visit Hood on Saturday.
