ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Lebanon Valley was bounced from the Commonwealth Conference tournament by defending champion Elizabethtown in a 5-0 decision Tuesday.
The Blue Jays (14-3) took a quick lead in doubles, winning 8-2 at No. 2 as Cole Turula and Michael Cannon topped
Sam Calabria and
Cody Manmiller, then taking No. 2 8-3 with Paul Whitman and Billy Freitag beating
Andrew Wilson and
Jordan Shankroff. At No. 1, Josh Riehl and Eric Fritzges topped
Ethan Grodzinski and
Ryan Weitzel.
Whitman defeated Wilson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to put the match on the brink, and Turula clinched it with his 6-3, 6-0 win over Shankroff at No. 4. At the time of suspension, E-town was up in every match except at No. 1, where Grodzinski and Riehl were battling in a tiebreak at 6-6 in the first set.
The Dutchmen end the season at 7-11.
