Messiah 5, Lebanon Valley 4
GRANTHAM, Pa. - Strong singles play by Messiah helped them overcome a Lebanon Valley lead through doubles and win a tight 5-4 Commonwealth Conference men's tennis match.
The Dutchmen (5-9, 2-2 CC) led 2-1 through doubles thanks to wins by its top two duos, but Messiah won the top four singles flights to come back and edge LVC.
Sam Calabria won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Cody Manmiller was a 7-5, 7-6 (5) winner at No. 6 to give LVC its singles points; Messiah won three of its matches in straight sets, with No. 2 a battle won by Justin Meckley in three over
Ryan Weitzel 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The Dutchmen will take a break from conference play and visit Immaculata on Wednesday.
