HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Lebanon Valley ran up against a tough Catholic line-up as it dropped its spring break opener, 8-1, at the Port Royal Plantation in Hilton Head on Tuesday morning.

The Dutchmen (2-2) battled through doubles, but the Cardinals (4-2) proved to be too strong in singles as they swept all six flights.

Ethan Grodzinski and Ryan Weitzel provided LVC's lone point, beating Cassian Utrie and Schuyler Hayward at No. 1 doubles 8-5. Sam Calabria and Dillon Streifeneder were in it at No. 3, but fell 8-6 to Joe Peters and Kyle Kramer. LVC suffered straight-set losses at five singles flights, but Grodzinski pushed his match at No. 1 to three sets before falling to Brian Bradley 2-6, 6-0, 10-3.

Lebanon Valley will take on Grand Rapids Wednesday morning.
