ANNVILLE, Pa. - In a possible playoff preview, Elizabethtown men's tennis got the best of Lebanon Valley, rolling to an 8-1 win.
The loss snapped a seven-match win streak by the Dutchmen (11-5, 2-1 CC) as the Blue Jays (7-5, 2-0 CC) swept all the singles matches after going 2-1 at doubles.
LVC's lone point came at No. 3 doubles thanks to
Kyle Kahl and
Sam Calabria, who needed a tiebreaker to beat Cole Turula and Michael Cannon 9-8 (7-4). No. 1 doubles was also a tight match as Manrique Arrea and Paul Whitman held on to top
Ethan Grodzinski and
Roger Van Scyoc 8-6.
In singles, LVC battled to three in a pair of matches. Van Scyoc rallied back from a set down against Josh Riehl but ultimately fell 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, and
Joel Ramos hung in with Billy Freitag at No. 5 but lost in a superbreaker 6-3, 4-6 (10-6).
LVC will try to bounce back against Immaculata on Monday.
