Lebanon Valley 9, Arcadia 0
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley posted its second straight shutout, braving cold temperatures to beat Arcadia 9-0 in their Commonwealth Conference opener on Saturday.
The Dutchmen (9-4, 1-0 CC) had a delayed start to the match as they let the outdoor courts dry following overnight rain, but that didn't slow them down from winning their fifth straight match and improving to 3-0 at home this spring.
Lebanon Valley went up 3-0 after doubles with 8-3 wins by
Ethan Grodzinski/Roger van Scyoc at No. 1 and
Sam Calabria/
Kyle Kahl at No. 3, and
Ryan Weitzel/
Joel Ramos didn't surrender a point with an 8-0 win at No. 2.
In singles, Grodzinski beat Chris Finney 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1, and van Scyoc blanked Marc Ruggia 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Weitzel ended the match with a tiebreak finish, 6-2, 7-6 (2) over Jeremy Garcia.
Andrew Wilson won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 over Patrick Rohrbaugh,
Joel Ramos topped Max Amiel 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and
Sam Calabria beat David Battistelli 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
LVC visits Alvernia on Wednesday.
