Lebanon Valley 6, King's 3

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley picked up a win in its home opener on Saturday, beating King's 6-3 thanks to a pair of tiebreak doubles wins and strong singles play.

The Dutchmen (5-4) won 9-8 at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles, then picked up four singles victories to get by the Monarchs.

Ethan Grodzinski and Roger Van Scyoc needed a tiebreak to win No. 1 doubles 9-8 (9-7), and Ryan Weitzel and Joel Ramos won at No. 2 9-8 (5).

In singles, Weitzel highlighted LVC's effort with a three-set 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-4 win over Tony Bevevino at No. 3. Van Scyoc picked up a quick 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 against Tim Carroll, and Joel Ramos beat Anders Larson 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 before Sam Calabria won against Andrew Panzitta 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.

King's singles points came at No. 1, where Chris Cozzillio won a three-setter over Grodzinski 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and at No. 4, where Jake Rohring won 6-1, 6-3 against Andrew Wilson.

LVC visits Marywood on Sunday.
