DALLAS, Pa. - Lebanon Valley won five of six singles flights in impressive fashion to earn a 7-2 win in their fall debut at Misericordia.
The Dutchmen (1-0) led 2-1 after doubles and quickly secured the match win thanks to a strong showing in the lower singles flights.
Joel Ramos highlighted the match at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Robert Knipper.
Andrew Wilson won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 over Matt Erney, and
Sam Calabria won by the same score in his collegiate debut at No. 6 against Ryan Felsman.
Kyle Kahl also grabbed a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 against Shane Hall, and
Ryan Weitzel played No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Sal Saraniti.
Misericordia's only singles point came at No. 1, with Fed Hockenbury winning a tough match with
Ethan Grodzinski 6-4, 7-5.
In doubles, LVC picked up wins at Nos. 2 and 3, with Wilson and Kahl winning 8-2 over Erney and Knipper at No. 2 and Ramos and Patrick Jones beating Hall and Felsman 8-2 at No. 3. Hockenbury and Saraniti defeated Grodzinski and Weitzel 9-8 (7-5) in a breaker at No. 1.
LVC will continue its fall season Saturday at Cabrini.
