MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg won two key singles matches in three sets as it dealt Lebanon Valley a 6-3 loss in non-conference men's tennis play on Thursday.
The match had been moved up a day from Friday due to the forecast for rain. The Lions (9-3) won two points at doubles, then outlasted the Dutchmen (6-7) for four singles wins, including two of the three three-set matches.
Brad Sweigart and
Joel Ramos picked up singles points for LVC, with Sweigart holding off Nate Tulchinsky at No. 3 to win 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, and
Joel Ramos beating Evgeny Matigullin at No. 6 7-6 (3), 7-6 (8-6).
Andrew Wilson and
Kyle Kahl got LVC's other point with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Tom Necklemann and
Ryan Weitzel fought through three-set losses in singles, with Necklemann falling 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2 at No. 2 to Ali Eteiba, and Weitzel losing 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 against Tyler Bixler at No. 4.
LVC will visit Albright on April 12.
