ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lycoming proved to be too much for Lebanon Valley as the Warriors worked a 9-0 sweep of the Dutchmen in the Commonwealth Conference opener on Sunday.
The Dutchmen (6-6, 0-1 CC) were playing for the first time since March 21 after having their last six matches postponed due to weather. The Warriors improved to 2-0 in conference play and 4-2 overall.
After sweeping doubles, Lycoming won five of six singles matches in straight sets, with only
Brad Sweigart, playing up a flight at No. 2, taking his match to a third set as he lost to Bobby Brown 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
Ethan Grodzinski fell 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 to Jason Mifsud, and
Ryan Weitzel lost 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 to David Brown. Phillip Shannon defeated
Andrew Wilson 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4, Cody Heffner beat
Joel Ramos 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5, and Devin Rachael topped
Kyle Kahl 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6.
LVC will host King's on Tuesday.
