Full Results
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lebanon Valley managed to take two points from Lycoming, but the Warriors were too strong as they moved on to the Commonwealth Conference championship match with a 5-2 win over the Dutchmen in Tuesday's playoff semifinal.
Lebanon Valley ends its season at 10-9, while Lycoming (8-3) will move on to face the Elizabethtown-Messiah winner on Saturday for the conference title.
After a 9-0 Lycoming win during the regular season, LVC turned around two results with wins at No. 2 singles by
Brad Sweigart and No. 2 doubles by Sweigart and
Ryan Weitzel. However, Lycoming took the other two doubles matches before winning at Nos. 1, 5, and 6 singles as LVC was playing without No. 5
Joel Ramos.
Sweigart and Weitzel beat Jason Mifsud and Phil Shannon 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, but Lyco's team of David and Bobby Brown beat
Ethan Grodzinski and
Tom Neckelmann 8-1 at No. 1, and Cody Heffner and Devin Rachel topped
Andrew Wilson and
Kyle Kahl 8-3 at No. 3 to take a 2-1 match lead.
Sweigart avenged a three-set loss to Bobby Brown earlier in the year with his 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2, but that was all for the Dutchmen as Mifsud won 6-2, 6-2 over Grodzinski at No. 1, Heffner beat Wilson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5, and Rachael defeated Kahl 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.
Neckelmann and Brown were unfinished at No. 3 with Brown up 7-5, 3-2, and Weitzel led Shannon 7-5, 2-0 at No. 4.
