READING, Pa. - Lebanon Valley blanked Albright, 9-0, on Thursday to clinch a berth in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs.
The Dutchmen (8-5, 3-2 CC) will return to the playoffs to defend their 2009 championship. The playoff semifinals will be on May 5, and LVC will take on either Elizabethtown or Lycoming.
LVC had little trouble with the Lions (0-8, 0-5 CC), giving up just two points at doubles before sweeping singles. At No. 1,
Ethan Grodzinski beat Kenneth Ip 6-3, 6-0, and
Tom Neckelmann blanked Lee Fura 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.
Andrew Deckert was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Jason Lefkoe at No. 3.
Jon Gingrich and
Kyle Kahl both won 6-1, 6-1 at Nos. 4 and 5 against Mike Callahan and Joe Monzo, respectively, while
Matt Garber won at No. 6 against Adam Stamm, 6-0, 7-6 (7-2).
LVC will host Messiah on Saturday, with the winner getting the #3 seed in the playoffs.
