ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley picked up a key Commonwealth Conference win Thursday, taking down Alvernia 6-3 at home.
The Dutchmen (7-5, 2-2) swept doubles and split singles with the Crusaders (3-6, 1-2 CC) en route to the win.
In doubles,
Ethan Grodzinski and
Jon Gingrich cruised at No. 1, 8-2, over Zachary Lockwood and Jed Spangler, and
Joel Ramos and
Andrew Decker eased past Nathan Bauer and William Gerber 8-3 at No. 3. The closest match came at No. 2, but
Tom Neckelmann and
Kyle Kahl tooped Ryan Lineaweaver and Zachary Marsar 8-6.
In singles, Alvernia won the odd flights and LVC the evens, with Neckelmann getting a key win at No. 2 over Lineaweaver in a tiebreak, 6-3, 1-6 (10-4). Gingrich beat Aaron Dearstyne at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1, and Ramos was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Gerber at No. 6.
Lockwood beat Grodzinski, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, Spangler topped Deckert 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3, and Bauer beat Kahl 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5.
LVC will visit Albright next Wednesday.
