ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - A short-handed LVC team couldn't stay with Elizabethtown as the Blue Jays eased to an 8-1 win on Saturday in men's tennis play.
Playing without No. 1
Ethan Grodzinski, the Dutchmen (6-5, 1-2 CC) were swept in singles and grabbed a single point at No. 1 doubles as
Tom Neckelmann and
Jon Gingrich beat Manrique Arrea and Bryan Metz in a tiebreak, 9-8 (7-4).
Everywhere else, it was the Blue Jays who got the best of the rematch of last year's Commonwealth Conference title match, as they rolled to straight set victories in every singles flight against LVC's shifted line-up.
Arrea beat Neckelmann at No. 1, 6-3, 6-1, and Josh Riehl topped
Andrew Deckert at No. 2 6-1, 6-0. Brok Walker defeated Gingrich 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3, and Metz beat
Kyle Kahl at No. 4 6-1, 6-4.
Joel Ramos fell at No. 5 to Eric Fritzges 6-1, 6-3, and
Matt Garber was a 6-0, 6-1 loser to Brian Osborn at No. 6.
