ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley was dealt a 7-2 loss by Lycoming Thursday in both teams' Commonwealth Conference opener.

The Dutchmen (4-4, 0-1 CC) battled through the match, taking two singles matches to tiebreaks and going extras at No. 1 doubles, but Lycoming (1-1, 1-0 CC) won each of those close matches.

Ethan Grodzinski picked up LVC's only singles win, topping Robert Brown easily at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1. Tom Neckelmann and Kyle Kahl also won at No. 3 doubles over Phill Shannon and Cody Hefner, 8-5.

Neckelmann fell 6-2, 6-2 to Alex Beattie at No. 2 singles, while Andrew Deckert lost a breaker to Jason Mifsud 6-2, 7-6 (10-7) at No. 3. David Brown topped Jon Gingrich 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4, while Shannon defeated Kahl 6-2, 7-5 at No. 5. Hefner took Joel Ramos to a tiebreak but won, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7).
