ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the season Sunday, falling 8-1 to Wilkes University.
The Dutchmen (1-1) managed just a single point against the Colonels.
Wilkes started the match off by sweeping the doubles points, although the Valley made it interesting as the teams of junior Jared Zeigler and freshman Tom Neckelman at No. 1 and sophomore Matt Grodzinski and senior Phil Rhodes at No. 3 took their matches to 8-6.
Sophomore Jon Gingrich provided LVC with its lone point, winning a tough 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 decision at No. 5 singles over Cory Golden. The Dutchmen fell in straight sets at all other singles positions.
