ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team opened its season with a win, beating Susquehanna University 7-2 Sunday.
The Flying Dutchmen (1-0) swept the doubles points and then won four of six singles matches.
Matt Grodzinski eased to a win at No. 1 singles, beating Todd Adams 6-3, 6-2. Jared Zeigler was a winner at No. 2, bouncing back to take a tight three-setter over Will Mellor 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.
Tom Neckelman bested Kirk McAuliffe, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3 singles, while Jon Gingrich defeated Dillon Plunkett, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5.
Susquehanna's Matt Mitchell beat Matt Hotchkiss, 6-4, 6-0, to win at No. 4 singles, while LVC"s Phil Rader dropped a hard-fought match at No. 6 to Tyler Rush, 4-6, 6-1, 12-10.
