Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete at AARTFC Championships

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – The Lebanon Valley indoor track and field teams close out the Nationals qualifying window this weekend at the AARTFC Championships in New York City. The two-day meet was held at the world-famous New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory, with the Dutchmen having nine individuals and two relays competing.
 
Leo Tirado finished 26th in the men's 60 meters on Friday afternoon, running a time of 7.06 seconds. He finished fifth in the fourth of five preliminary heats. Anna Sawicki and Mikayla Mitchell ran in the 60-meter hurdle prelims. Sawicki was 34th with a time of 9.60 seconds, while Mitchell finished 38th in 9.90 seconds. Both runners were in the fourth of five qualifying heats. Tola Oyinkolade was also in action on Friday as the sophomore finished 14th in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.29 meters (17'4.25") on her first of three attempts.
 
Ava Matter ran a career-best and program record 200-meter time of 25.68 seconds on Saturday to finish 16th in the field of 38. She was third in the ninth of 10 heats. Her time beat the previous record time of 26.03 seconds run by Ines Antensteiner in 2012. Matter then led off the 4x200 relay team that finished eighth to score one point with a season-best time of 1:45.69. She was joined on the relay by Gabby Welter, Mitchell, and Mileyska Calderon. That time is fourth in program history.
Aonghas Evanick finished eighth in the men's weight throw to score one point with a career-best toss of 17.16 meters (56'3.75") on his second of six attempts. His throw is second in program history. Evanick had three throws over 17 meters during the meet. The men's 4x200 meter relay team of Donovan Goundie, Tirado, Caleb Auzenne, and Braden Smith ran a season-best time of 1:30.28 to finish 12th overall and third in the fifth of seven heats. Their time is the second-fastest in program history.
 
Sierra Kapcsos ran a season-best time of 2:22.45 in the 800 meters to finish 31st. She was fourth in the second of seven heats. Elijah McKell finished 13th in the men's heats with a time of 1:56.06. The senior was fourth in the fourth of five heats. Autumn Garges was 11th in the women's mile with a time of 5:07.32. She was second in the second of three heats.
