Lieberman and Sawicki Announced as Qualifiers for National Indoor Track & Field Championships

3/9/2026 12:26:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Lebanon Valley track and field program will be sending two student-athletes to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships as junior Rory Lieberman and sophomore Anna Sawicki were officially announced as qualifiers on Sunday evening in a release by the NCAA.

Lieberman qualified in the 5000 meters while Sawicki was a qualifier in the pentathlon. They will both compete on Friday, March 13, at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. The pentathlon is scheduled to start at 11:20 a.m. while the men's 5000 meters is expected to occur at 6:05 p.m. on Friday.

Sawicki makes her first National Championship appearance after recording a school and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship record of 3459 points at the MAC Championships. Her adjusted point total of 3480 for track size was 18th in the nation. She is one of just six underclassmen in the field of 20. Sawicki recorded career-best long jump and high jump marks at the MAC Championships along with a career-best 60-meter hurdle time in the individual event.

Lieberman qualifier for his first indoor championship in the 5000 meters after running a school and MAC record time of 14:14.94 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University. Lieberman's time is the 17th-fastest in the nation this season. The junior will see some familiar faces in the field on Friday, as a good number of the runners also competed at the Cross Country Championships in November.
