LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Coyla Bartholomew and
Kyrianna Nemitz finished in the top 15 out of 179 runners to highlight a great day for the Lebanon Valley women's cross country team on Saturday at the Lock Haven Invitational on the West Branch Course in Lock Haven.
The Dutchmen were one of only three Division III teams at the invitational and finished seventh out of 21 scoring teams with a total of 195 points. They had the program's second-best five-runner average in school history at 22:52, despite missing
Autumn Garges at the meet, who is normally the third finisher. Their time was only seven seconds off the program record of 22:45 that was accomplished at the 2023 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. "I am tremendously pleased with this for our first 6K of the season," Head Coach
James O'Brien '07, M'16, had to say. "We had so many good things at play, and it was starting to get warm for this race. The best part is I believe we can continue to grow into ourselves and race even better as the season moves forward. We are excited to plug Autumn back into the lineup next week and see what we can do."
Bartholomew finished 10th overall with a 6,000-meter time of 22:03.10, just one second off her career-best. Nemitz was right behind her with a career-best time of 22:11.7 to finish 13th. Her time is seventh on the program's all-time Top 15 list.
Lila Shore had a great race for her first career 6K and finished 40th in 22:58.8. That time is 14th in program history.
Kaylee Senglar was the next Dutchmen to cross the line in 69th with a career-best time of 23:33.6.
Abigail Hunt rounded out the top five scorers with a time of 23:36.8 to finish 71st.
Charlee Kurtz was 77th with a career-best time of 23:42.1, while
Sierra Kapcsos crossed the line in 111th at 24:28.2.
Division II Walsh, who is ranked 11th in the nation, won the team title with a score of 28, putting five in the top nine, including individual champion Claire Rethman, who had a time of 20:27.2. Davis & Elkins was second with 66 points, while Slippery Rock was third with 117 points. The Dutchmen scored 195 points to finish seventh. Middle Atlantic Conference foe, Stevens, was the next closest Division III team in 17th with 455 points.
