Tennis Teams Finish Second at Dutchmen Invitational

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley tennis teams finished second in both Group A and Group B on Saturday as the Dutchmen hosted Catholic University, Wilkes University, and York College of Pennsylvania in the Dutchmen Invitational at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
 
The day consisted of a co-ed exhibition tournament featuring six groups of matches. Catholic won Group A with 125 total games on the day, while LVC was second with 107. The Cardinals also won Group B with 125 total games, while LVC was second with 118 games.
 
The LVC A team consisted of Zach Schrader, Jesse Beck, Adam Warren, Jake Erb, and Colin Brusse from the men's team and Sarah McComas, Catherine Stone, Megan Martin, Katie Berra, and Erika Badner from the women's team. The B team was made up of Mason Dissinger, Jared Hostetter, Zachary Elmore, Ethan Luu, Brayden Waiter, Vincent Thompson, Jake Palandjian, and Mason Bender from the men's squad and Emily Bryant, Nikki Denbowski, Laken Kelly, Marissa Nicholson, Julia Rohrer, Ella Stauber, and Zowie Zokuskie from the women's squad.
 
The Dutchmen started the day facing York with the A group winning 44-18 and the B group winning 39-34. Schrader was an 8-2 winner at men's singles while McComas won women's singles 8-4. Beck and Stone won 8-4 at mixed doubles 1, while Brusse and Badner won 8-0 by default at mixed doubles 2. Warren and Erd won men's doubles 6-4, while Martin and Berra were 6-4 winners at women's doubles. Hostetter won 8-2 at men's singles, while Elmore and Thompson won 8-5 at men's doubles. Bryant and Luu were 8-5 winners at mixed doubles 1, while Denbowski and Zokuskie won 7-6 in women's doubles.
 
LVC's second matchup of the day came against Catholic. The Cardinals won 37-24 in the A match and 40-27 in the B match. Warren and McComas were 8-2 mixed doubles 1 winners while Stone and Berra won 8-4 at women's doubles. Palandjian and Kelly won 8-3 at mixed doubles 2, while Thompson and Denbowski finished in a 6-6 tie at mixed doubles 1.
 
The Dutchmen closed the night with a 39-26 win over Wilkes in the A match and a 48-16 victory in the B match. Schrader and Stone won 8-0 at mixed doubles 1, while Brusse and McComas won 8-5 at mixed doubles 2. Beck and Warren were 8-4 winners in men's doubles, and Badner and Berra won 8-1 at women's doubles. Elmore won his men's singles match 8-5, while Kelly won 8-2 at women's singles. Hostetter and Rohrer won 8-3 at mixed doubles 1, and Waiter and Stauffer were 8-0 winners at mixed doubles 2. Bender and Palandjian won 8-3 at men's doubles, while Zokuskie and Nicholson won 8-3 at women's doubles.
 
The Dutchmen will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as both teams travel to Selinsgrove to face Susquehanna University in the first dual matches of the year. First serves are scheduled for 1 p.m. against the River Hawks.
