Men’s Tennis Starts Season Strong at King’s Invitational

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team had a strong start to the year as the Dutchmen had four second-place finishes at the King's Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre.
 
LVC had finalists in three singles flights and one doubles flight, and went a combined 15-11 for the weekend. Adam Warren, Colin Brusse, and Mason Dissinger all finished second in their singles flights, while Jake Palandjian and Vincent Thompson finished second at number three doubles.
 
Warren went 2-1 at number two singles, defeating Rutgers-Camden 8-3 and Wilkes 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the final. He dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision in the final to Muhlenberg.
 
Brusse went 3-1 at number four singles, starting with an 8-5 victory over Penn College and an 8-1 victory over Lycoming on Saturday. On Sunday, he had a big three-set victory in the semifinals over Wilkes, winning by a score of 7-5, 4-6, 11-9. The junior then fell in the final by a score of 6-1, 6-1 to Muhlenberg.
 
Dissinger had a great debut, going 2-1 at number five singles. He won his first match 8-0 over Misericordia on Saturday and then earned a spot in the final with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Elizabethtown on Sunday. He dropped a close 6-4, 7-6 decision to Muhlenberg in the final.
 
Palandjian and Thompson won their first two matches by scores of 6-3 over Misericordia and 6-1 over Elizabethtown on Saturday. On Sunday morning, they faced Muhlenberg in the final and fell 6-2.
 
Zach Schrader went 1-1 at number one singles. The sophomore earned an 8-0 victory over King's on Saturday before dropping a 6-4, 6-0 decision to the eventual champion from Muhlenberg in the semifinals on Sunday. Jake Erb also went 1-1 on the weekend at number three singles. He had an 8-4 victory over Penn College on Saturday before dropping a 6-1, 6-2 decision to the eventual champion from Muhlenberg in the semifinals on Sunday morning.
 
Antonio Scaramuzzino dropped an 8-6 decision to Elizabethtown on Saturday at number six singles. Jared Hostetter went 1-1 at the number seven singles flight. He had an 8-0 victory over Lycoming on Saturday before dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision to the eventual champion from Muhlenberg on Sunday morning in the semifinals.
 
Jesse Beck and Ethan Luu went 1-1 at number one doubles on Saturday. They defeated King's 6-0 before falling to eventual champion Muhlenberg 6-4 in the semifinals. At number two doubles, Zachary Elmore and Brayden Waiter also went 1-1 on Saturday. They defeated Penn College 6-2 and then dropped a 6-0 decision to eventual champion Muhlenberg in the semifinals. Grant Rowe and Gabe Schneider were the third doubles team to go 1-1 at number four. They defeated Lycoming 6-2 and then fell to eventual champion Muhlenberg 6-3 in the semifinals.
 
The Dutchmen will play the first dual match of the year on Wednesday as they travel to Gettysburg College to take on the Bullets at 4 p.m. in Gettysburg.
