Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Wins Second Consecutive MAC Championship

YORK, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Outdoor Track and Field team won the program's second consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference title on Saturday as the Dutchmen scored 139 points to top the field of 16 teams at York College of Pennsylvania. The women's team finished second with 110.5 points.
 
The men's team defeated Misericordia University who finished second with 118 points. York was third with 108.5 points, Widener finished fourth with 92 points, and Messiah rounded out the top five with 76 points. The women's team title was won by Widener with 171 points. LVC was second, followed by King's in third with 85 points. Stevens finished fourth with 84 points and Misericordia rounded out the top five with 79 points.
 
The women's 4x100 relay team of Darrian Berkheimer, Ava Matter, Karina Reilly, and Mileyska Calderon finished second to score eight points with a season-best time of 48.96 seconds. That time is fourth in the program record books. The men's 4x100 relay team of Donovan Goundie, Daniel Murtha, Ayden Stankus, and Colin Winters finished third in a season-best 41.95 seconds to score six points. Their time is second in program history, just missing the program record of 41.91 seconds.
 
The Dutchmen women scored 10 points in the women's 1500 meters with three podium finishers. Autumn Garges finished fourth to score five points with a career-best time of 4:43.24. Her time is fifth in the program's record books. Abigail Hunt was sixth to score three points with a career-best time of 4:48.20. Her time moved her up to ninth on the program's Top 10 List. Sierra Kapcsos scored two points in seventh place with a time of 4:48.76. Kaylee Senglar crossed the line in a career-best 5:00.99 to finish 12th. Rory Lieberman finished third in the men's 1500 with a career-best time of 3:58.06 to score six points. His time is fifth in the program's record books. Sam Rothstein was ninth in 4:04.11 while Eric Shelton finished 11th in 4:08.20.
 
Abbie Reed finished sixth in the women's 100 hurdles final to score three points with a time of 15.61 seconds. The men's team scored six points in the 110 hurdles as Murtha finished fifth in 15.04 seconds to score four points and Joshua Leidich was seventh in 15.31 seconds to score two points.
 
Goundie scored four points in the men's 400 meters with a school record time of 48.25 seconds to finish fifth. His beat the former program record of 48.84 run by Nate Hillegas in 1997. Colin Winter finished fourth in the men's 100 final with a school record time of 10.64 seconds to score five points. He bested the previous record of 10.77 seconds run by Owen Buhr in 2022.
 
Michael De Falcis won his second career MAC javelin title with a school record throw of 64.27 meters (210'10") on his sixth and final throw to score 10 points. He bested the previous record of 63.65 meters (208'10") by Scott Davis in 1992. His mark is also 10th in nation this year and almost certainly will qualify him for the National Championships. Nick Guerieri was second to score eight points with a career-best throw of 62.63 meters (205'6") on his sixth throw. His mark is third in the program record books and 13th in the nation this year. Ian Paul scored four points in fifth place with a toss of 56.79 meters (186'4") on his sixth attempt.
 
Elijah McKell won his third outdoor 800 title and fifth consecutive MAC Championship in the 800 meters with a career-best time of 1:52.19 to score 10 points. His time is third in the program's record books. McKell was second after the first lap and won by 0.08 seconds in a tight race.
 
Hailey Myers scored a point in the women's triple jump with a career-best mark of 10.50 meters (34'5.5") on her third attempt to finish eighth. Her mark is 10thon the program's Top 10 List. Chloe Grady was 10th with a career-best jump of 10.43 meters (34'2.75") on her second attempt. Haley Thunberg finished 16th at 9.55 meters (31'4") on her first jump.
 
Lauren Assante finished ninth in the women's shot put with a throw of 11.15 meters (36'7") on her third toss. Greta Plechner was 11th with a career-best mark of 11.00 meters (36'1.25") on her second attempt. Anna Sawicki threw 10.64 meters (34'11") on her third attempt to finish 17th. Alyssa Betz was 25th with a mark of 10.20 meters (33'5.75") on her third toss.
 
Reed finished fifth in the women's 400 hurdles to score four points with a time of 1:06.53. Matter was fifth in the women's 200 meter with a career-best time of 26.03 seconds to score four points. Her time is 10th in the program record books.
 
Rory Lieberman won the men's 5000 meters with a time of 14:49.32 to score a big 10 points. Joe Chukoskie was third to score six points in 14:53.60. Lukas Walko ran a time of 15:23.22 to finish ninth while Andrew Namatka was 10th in 15:27.07. Dylan Lenhart finished 18th in 16:08.49 and Liam Allen crossed the line in 17:14.71 to finish 24th. Kyrianna Nemitz finished second in the women's 5000 to score eight points with a time of 18:02.46. Coyla Bartholomew was seventh to score two points with a time of 18:38.17. Autumn Garges also reached the podium in eighth with a time of 18:40.26 to score one point. Abigail Hunt was 13th in 19:17.22, Charlee Kurtz ran 19:54.83 to finish 16th, and Christine Wagner ran 21:16.91 to finish 20th.
 
The women's team scored nine points in the women's pole vault with three podium finishers. Rachel Snavely was fifth with a height of 3.25 meters (10'8") to score four points. Emily Oriel also vaulted 3.25 meters (10'8") to finish sixth and score three points. Luisanna Polanco was seventh with a height of 3.05 meters (10'0") to score two points. Emma Evan cleared 2.80 meters (9'2.25") to finish 12th.
 
LVC's women's 4x400 relay team of Berkheimer, Matter, Calderon, and Reed finished second to score eight points with a season-best time of 4:01.35. That time is seventh in program history. The men's 4x400 relay also finished second to score eight points as Goundie, Matt Bruchak, Alec Di Cesare, and McKell crossed the line in a school record time of 3:18.20. They beat the previous record of 3:19.17 that was run in 2016.
 
Guerieri finished 12th in the men's shot put with a career-best toss of 13.17 meters (43'2.5") on his third throw. Aonghas Evanick was 14th with a mark of 12.85 meters (42'2") on his first attempt while Paul had a throw of 12.84 meters (42'1.5") on his third attempt to finish 15th.
 
Kaitlyn Snyder won the women's javelin with a career-best mark of 38.09 meters (125'0") on her sixth throw to score 10 points. Her throw is third in program history. Joie Connolly was ninth with a toss of 34.19 meters (112'2") on her first attempt while Sawicki threw the javelin 33.44 meters (109'8") on her first toss to finish 10th. Alex Brown finished 16th in the men's triple jump with a mark of 12.56 meters (41'2.5") on his second jump.
 
The Dutchmen will be back in action on May 14 as they compete at the AARTFC Championships being hosted by Williams College.
