YORK, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Outdoor Track and Field teams swept the Steeplechase races as
Eric Shelton won the men's race and
Coyla Bartholomew won the women's race while
Anna Sawicki claimed first in the heptathlon to highlight the second day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at York College of Pennsylvania.
Shelton scored 10 points in the 3000 Steeplechase as he won by seven seconds with a time of 9:24.14.
Wyatt Leitzel finished seventh with a career-best time of 9:59.92 while
Cole Lehman scored one point in eighth place with a time of 10:12.17. Leitzel's time is ninth on the program's Top 10 List.
Samuel Bower finished 24th with a time of 10:51.39. Bartholomew scored 10 points for the women as she won by nearly 30 seconds with a career-best and school record time of 11:04.76. She beat her previous time of 11:05.35 that the junior ran last year.
Nina Milosevic was 15th in 13:55.13.
Sawicki scored a school record 4,607 points in the heptathlon beating her previous total of 4,214 points earlier this spring to win her second MAC multi title of the year. The first-year scored 10 team points with a strong second day where she had a career-best long jump mark of 4.85 meters to score 519 points, a javelin throw of 33.46 meters (109'9") to score 542 points, ad won the 800 meters in a career-best 2:28.61 to score 710 points.
Carolina Wegman finished sixth to score three team points with a total of 3,258 points. On Friday she had a career-best long jump mark of 4.88 meters to score 527 points, a javelin throw of 22.60 meters (74'2") to score 337 points, and an 800 time of 3:06.39 to score 308 points.
Colin Winters qualified for the men's 100 meters final on Saturday with a career-best time of 10.81 seconds in the preliminaries. He won the first of four heats and had the fourth-fastest time of the day. Winters' time is tied for third in the program record books. Avrey Grim ran a time of 11.54 seconds to finish 29th.
Hayden Milchanowski finished 23rd in the men's 200 meters with a time of 23.26 seconds.
Owen Linder ran 25.01 seconds to finish 30th.
Ava Matter qualified for the women's 200 final with a time of 26.46 second which was seventh in the field. She was second in the first of three heats.
Donovan Goundie qualified for Saturday's men's 400 final with a time of 49.33 seconds in the preliminaries. His time was fourth in the field as he finished second in the first of four heats.
Emily Miller was 11th in the women's race with a career-best time of 1:03.24 while
Darrian Berkheimer was right behind her in 1:03.57.
Elijah McKell qualified for the men's 800 final with a time of 1:54.76. He won the second of three heats and had the second-fastest time in the field.
Daniel Murtha qualified for the men's 110 hurdles final with a career-best time of 14.86 seconds. He was second in the first of three heats and had the third-best time of the day.
Joshua Leidich also qualified for the final with a career-best time of 15.25 seconds to finish third in the first heat. Murtha's time is sixth in the program record books while Leidich's time is just outside the Top 10.
Abbie Reed qualified for the women's 100 hurdles final with the fifth-best time of the day at a career-best 15.38 seconds. She finished second in the third of three heats with the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Mikayla Mitchell just missed the final in ninth place with a time of 15.89 seconds. She was third in the second heat.
Emma Bunty finished 14th with a time of 16.82 seconds.
Luke Macchione finished 14th in the men's 400 hurdles with a career-best time of 57.92 seconds. Reed qualified for her second hurdles final with a career-best time of 1:06.33 in the 400 hurdles. She had the third-fastest time and was second in the third of three heats. Reed's time was fifth in the program's record books. Mitchell finished 11th in 1:09.90 while Bunty was 12th in a career-best 1:12.56.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team qualified for Saturday's final as Goundie, Murtha,
Ayden Stankus, and Winters ran a time of 42.47 for the fifth-best time in the field. They were fourth in the second of two heats. The women's 4x100 relay team of Berkheimer, Matter,
Karina Reilly, and
Mileyska Calderon ran the second-best time of the day at 49.43 seconds to qualify for Saturday's final. They won the first of two heats.
Emily Oriel scored 1.5 points as she tied for seventh in the women's high jump with a height of 1.54 meters (5'0.5").
Melena Koutch was ninth as she also cleared 1.54 meters (5'0.5") as her final height. Wegman was 13th at 1.51 meters (4'11.5").
Graison Michajluk finished 11th in the men's high jump with a height of 1.82 meters (5'11.5"). Stankus scored a point in the men's long jump with a career-best mark of 6.58 meters (21'7.25") on his second attempt to finish eighth.
Alex Brown was 10th with a career-best jump of 6.55 meters (21'6") on his first try.
Hailey Myers just missed the podium in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.05 meters (16'7") on her first attempt to finish ninth.
Tola Oyinkolade finished 13th with a mark of 4.95 meters (16'2.5") on her third jump while
Chloe Grady had a mark of 4.94 meters (16'2.5") on her second attempt to finish 15th.
Aonghas Evanick was second in the men's discus to earn a silver medal and score eight points with a throw of 47.11 meters (154'7") on his fourth attempt.
Alyssa Betz scored six points as she earned a bronze medal in the women's discus with a toss of 38.06 meters (124'10") on her first throw.
Michajluk finished fifth in the decathlon to score four team points with a total of 5,221 points. He started the day with a time of 18.28 seconds in the 110 hurdles to score 498 points. He then had a discus throw of 30.31 meters (99'5") to score 471 points, a career-best pole vault clearance of 3.30 meters (10'10") to score 431 points, a javelin throw of 26.75 meters (87'9") to score 254 points, and a time of 5:10.72 in the 1500 to score 500 points.
Ethan Rush scored 4,101 points to finish 13th. He had a 110 hurdles time of 17.84 seconds to score 540 points, a career-best discus toss of 23.38 meters (76'8") to score 336 points, a pole vault height of 2.80 meters (9'2.25" ) to score 309 points, a javelin throw of 22.23 meters (72'11") to score 192 points, and a career-best time of 5:08.72 in the 1500 to score 511 points.
The men's team is second with 56 points after the second day of competition. Host York College is in first with 61.5 points. Widener is third at 50 points, Messiah is in fourth with 47 points, and Misericordia sits fifth with 34 points. The women are fourth with 42.5 points. Stevens leads the field with 51 points followed closely by King's at 48 points. Widener is third with 47 points and Messiah rounds out the top five with 24 points.
The final day of competition will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday as both team will look to finish strong and move up the standings.
