WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Lebanon Valley Outdoor Track and Field teams are off to a strong start to the final week of the regular season with action at two different meets this week. On Monday a group of student-athletes competed at Widener's Final Qualifier and on Wednesday the teams started action at the AARTFC Championships.
On Monday,
Daniel Murtha finished sixth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.95 seconds after running 14.79 seconds in the preliminaries.
Ayden Stankus finished sixth in the pole vault with a height of 4.65 meters (15'3").
Lukas Walko ran a career-best time of 1:58.14 in the 800 meters while
Elijah McKell ran a time of 1:58.58.
Coyla Bartholomew broke her own 3000 steeplechase record with a time of 10:58.16 to finish eighth. The junior lowered her previous best time of 11:04.76.
Autumn Garges ran a career-best 800-meter time of 2:16.00,
Sierra Kapcsos ran 2:20.18, and
Abigail Hunt ran a career-best time of 2:21.84. Garges' time is ranked third in the program record books while Hunt's time is 10th.
At the AARTFC Championships being held at Williams College, the women's 4x100 relay team of
Darrian Berkheimer,
Ava Matter,
Karina Reilly, and
Mileyska Calderon finished 13th with a time of 49.09 seconds. The men's team of
Donovan Goundie, Murtha, Stankus, and
Colin Winters qualified for Thursday's final with a time of 42.01 seconds. They were the eighth-fastest time in the field of 19 and finished second in the fourth of four heats.
Abbie Reed finished 22nd in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.83 seconds. Murtha qualified for Thursday's 110 hurdles final with a career-best time of 14.69 seconds. He had the sixth-best time in the field of 27 and was third in the second of four heats. Murtha's time is third in the program record books.
Winters qualified for Thursday's 100 meters final with a time of 10.68 seconds in the prelims. His time was eighth in the field of 32 and he finished second in the fifth of five heats. Bartholomew finished sixth in the 3000 steeplechase to score three points with a time of 11:05.47.
Eric Shelton finished fifth in the men's race with a career-best time of 9:20.57 to score four points. His time is third in the program record books.
Berkheimer, Matter, Calderon, and Reed finished ninth in the women's 4x400 relay with a season-best time of 4:00.46. They were second in the second of three heats with the sixth-best time in program history.
Kyrianna Nemitz finished fifth in the women's 5000 meters with a time of 17:50.76 to score four points.
Joe Chukoskie finished fourth in the men's race with a time of 14:46.66 to score five points.
Kaitlyn Snyder finished fourth in the women's javelin to score five points with a throw of 37.86 meters (124'2") on her third throw. The men had three of the top six finishers led by
Michael De Falcis in third with a toss of 60.78 meters (199'5") on his third attempt to score six points.
Ian Paul was fourth with a throw of 60.54 meters (198'7") on his first throw to score five points.
Nick Guerieri had a throw of 58.47 meters (191'10") on his fourth try to finish sixth and score three points.
Aonghas Evanick finished fifth in the discus to score four points with a mark of 47.15 meters (154'8") on his first throw.
Alyssa Betz had a throw of 34.09 meters (111'10") on her third attempt to finish 17th in the women's event.
Through eight scored events the men's squad is second with 27 points while the women's team is tied for 10th with 12 points.
The Dutchmen will close out action at the AARTFC Championships on Thursday on the final day of National Championship qualifying.
