Men’s Tennis Set to Compete for MAC Freedom Title

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Tennis team has won seven of their last eight matches heading into Tuesday Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Semifinals where the second-seeded Dutchmen will host third-seeded Arcadia University at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
 
LVC qualified for the conference tournament as the second seed after going 5-1 in conference play with the only loss coming to 39th-ranked and top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology. Arcadia went 4-2 in conference play and earned the third seed after beating FDU-Florham 5-2 on Sunday. The Devils are seeded fourth at 3-3 and will face Stevens in other semifinal pairing on Tuesday in Bayonne, New Jersey. The winners of each match will play in the Championship on Saturday at the site of the higher seed. Admission to all matches is free.
 
The Dutchmen have been very good in singles play during the conference matches with a 28-7 overall record. In doubles, they have gone 11-7 while winning the doubles point in three of the six matches. The squad defeated Arcadia 7-0 in the first conference match of the season winning all nine matches. They dropped a 7-0 decision to Stevens and won all six singles matches in a 6-1 victory at FDU-Florham. Stevens swept through conference play without dropping a single match.
 
Jake Erb and Zach Schrader will play number one doubles for the Dutchmen this week. They are 6-8 on the season and went 3-2 in conference play. Ethan Luu and Michael Schuetz are set at number two doubles with a 7-5 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play. Vincent Thompson and Antonio Scaramuzzino will play at number three doubles after going 2-0 this season and 1-0 in conference matches.
 
Schrader has been LVC's number one singles player all year and boosts an impressive 12-11 overall record and 5-1 mark in MAC Freedom matches as a first-year. He is 7-3 in his last 10 matches including being on a three-match winning streak. Erb will be number two as he has all year where he is 8-12 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The junior is 6-4 in his last 10 matches and has won his last two. Schuetz will play number three and is on a four-match winning streak. He is 9-9 overall on the season but an impressive 5-1 in conference. In his last 10 matches, he is 7-3.
 
Colin Brusse is set to play number four singles with a 12-7 overall record and 4-1 mark in the MAC Freedom. The junior is 7-3 in his last 10 matches and has won the past four. Luu will play number five where he has gone 6-4 in dual matches this year. He is 10-6 overall and 4-1 in conference play with a three-match winning streak. Luu is 6-4 in his last 10 matches. Jared Hostetter is set to play number six singles on Tuesday against the Knights. This season he is 6-9 overall but 3-1 in conference play. The sophomore has won his last four matches and is 6-4 in his last 10.
