NEWTOWN, Pa. – Junior pitcher Jacob Detwiler was honored by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) for his strong start in the Lebanon Valley College Baseball team's win over Wilkes University on March 4, as the conference office announced in a release on Monday that he was named the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week.
Detwiler struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits in five innings to earn his first win of the year in an 8-5 victory over Wilkes. The Dutchmen provided the junior with four runs in the first inning, and Detwiler faced 19 batters before LVC went to the bullpen for the final four innings against the Colonels. The junior was efficient with 79 pitches thrown, walking just two and facing one over the minimum.
This marks Detwiler's first career conference weekly award and Lebanon Valley's first honor of the season. The junior is the first pitcher for the Dutchmen to garner the recognition since Tommy Moore Jr. was chosen as the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week on May 8, 2023.
Detwiler and the Dutchmen will return to action at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, March 11, when the club will take on Elizabethtown College at Kevin Scott Boyd Stadium in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
