BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's cross country team overcame a slow start due to a large field and unfavorable conditions to record a respectable finish of 17th out of 45 scoring teams on Friday afternoon in a stacked White Race at the Paul Short Run on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem.
"The result at the end of the race is what we were hoping for, but we did get out really slow and were towards the back of the field through the mile," Head Coach James O'Brien had to say. "So, a rough start for sure. I am happy that our ladies were able to collect themselves and move up really well throughout the rest of the race. From a coaching perspective, seeing this resilience is something I believe will be very beneficial as we head further into October."
The Dutchmen were 37th after the first mile and moved up 20 spots to 17th by the end of the race. LVC's five-runner average was 23:03.1 with a spread of 1:12.2. New York University won the team title with an outstanding 55 points, while Carnegie Mellon University was second at 157 points.
Kyrianna Nemitz, who was 235th at the mile, finished 66th out of 404 with a time of 22:28.2 on the 6,000-meter course.
Coyla Bartholomew was 101st with a time of 22:48.4 while
Autumn Garges finished 118th with a time of 22:54.7.
Lila Shore moved up from 307th at the mile to 177th at the finish line with a time of 23:23.8.
Abigail Hunt was 214th with a time of 23:40.4,
Charlee Kurtz finished 231st with a time of 23:51.7, and
Kaylee Senglar rounded out the top seven with a time of 23:53.8.
