ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Indoor Track and Field teams were back in action on Friday and had another strong showing breaking four facility records at the Dutchmen Invitational inside the Arnold Sports Center.
Graison Michajluk broke the indoor heptathlon record with 4120 points,
Anna Sawicki broke the indoor pentathlon record with 3081 points,
Ayden Stankus broke the men's pole vault record with a height of 4.60 meters (15'1"), and
Owen Linder broke the 300 meters record with a time of 36.17 seconds.
Track Events
Linder won the men's 55 meter in 6.54 seconds while
Donovan Goundie was second in a MAC qualifying 6.62 seconds.
Colin Winters ran the fastest time of the day in prelims at 6.50 seconds but did not race in the final. His time is third on the program's top 10 list. Linder crossed in 6.54 seconds during the preliminaries while Goundie ran 6.66 seconds. Linder's career-best times of 6.54 seconds is fourth on the top 10 list Goundie's 6.62 seconds is eighth.
Ava Matter finished second in the women's race with a time of 7.51 seconds while
Darrian Berkheimer was third in a MAC qualifying 7.82 seconds. Matter ran 7.53 seconds in the preliminaries while Berkheimer crossed in 7.86 seconds. Matter's final time is third on the top 10 list.
Linder won his second event of the day with a facility record in the 300 meters. His time of 36.17 seconds is second on the program's top 10 list and beat the previous record of 36.47 run by Owen Buhr in 2021. Goundie was second in a career-best 36.70 seconds while
Hayden Milchanowski was third in 38.17 seconds. Goundie's time is third on the top 10 list.
Charleigh Seifert won the women's 300 in 45.66 seconds. The first-year's time is seventh on the top 10 list. In the men's 400 meters,
Sam Rothstein used a great kick to win in a MAC qualifying 53.90 seconds.
Caden Bell was third in 55.85 seconds.
Emily Miller ran 1:06.92 to defeat
Madison Sneath who ran 1:12.43 as the only two runners in the women's race.
The Dutchmen won both the women's and the men's mile as
Coyla Bartholomew took home gold in the women's race in 5:25.16 and
Rory Lieberman won the men's race in 4:31.34. Both runners qualified for the MAC Championships in the event along with Kyrianna Nemitz. Lieberman just missed the facility record by a second. Rothstein was second in 4:36.78 while
Matthew Santana crossed in third place with a time of 4:38.60. LVC also swept the top three places in both 3000 meters. Bartholomew won the women's race in 10:52.25 while
Autumn Garges was second in 10:55.50. Nemitz was third in 11:06.46. Lieberman won the men's race and just missed another facility record in 8:44.99 pulling away from Santana who finished second in 8:48.00.
Joe Chukoskie was third in 8:51.54. Lieberman was less than a second off the facility record and his time is third on the program's top 10 list. Santana's career-best time moves him up to fourth on the list while Chukoskie joins the top 10 at seventh. LVC had eight new MAC qualifiers in the event in Bartholomew,
Joe Chukoskie, Garges,
Abigail Hunt, Lieberman, Nemitz,
Eric Shelton, and
Lukas Walko. Lieberman and Santana also qualified for the AARTFC Championships with their times.
Daniel Murtha was the first of three Dutchmen in the 55 hurdles with a MAC and AARTFC qualifying time of 7.92 seconds in both the final and the prelims. Josh Leidich was second in 8.46 seconds after running 8.36 seconds earlier in the day. Avrey Grim qualified for MACs and finished third in 8.76 seconds and 8.81 seconds. Murtha's career-best times in the event are tied for fourth in the top 10 list.
Abbie Reed won the women's race in 9.01 seconds after a MAC qualifying time of 9.15 seconds in the prelims. Her career-best time moved her up to fourth on the top 10 list.
Mikayla Mitchell was second in 9.25 seconds while
Emma Bunty was third in 9.45 seconds. Mitchell ran 9.34 seconds in prelims while Bunty crossed in 9.58 seconds. Mitchell's time is eighth on the program's top 10 list. The women's 4x400 meter relay time of Reed, Berkheimer, Seifert, and
Mileyska Calderon cruised to a time of 4:16.96 which was three seconds off the facility record that was run last year.
Field Events
Emily Oriel and
Melena Koutch finished tied for second in the high jump with season-best heights of 1.48 meters (4'10.25"). The duo both entered at 1.38 meters and cleared their first jumps at 1.38, 1.43, and 1.48 meters. Stankus broke a 29-year-old facility record in the pole vault with a height of 4.60 meters (15'1"). He bettered the height of 15'0.75" that Moravian's CJ Brown was able to clear in 1996.
Grant Smith had a season-best height of 3.81 meters (12'6") to finish third.
Rachel Snavely won the women's pole vault with a season-best height of 3.20 meters (10'6") while
Luisanna Polanco was second at a season-best and MAC qualifying 2.88 meters (9'5.25").
Stankus won his second event of the day in the long jump with a MAC qualifying mark of 6.28 meters (20'7.25" on his second of four jumps. Omotola Oyinkolade was second in the women's event with a season-best jump of 4.98 meters (16'4.25") on her third attempt. Calderon was a MAC qualifier in the event. In the triple jump, the first-year finished third with a mark of 10.18 meters (33'4.75") on her first of four tries. Luke Macchione was third for the men with a jump of 10.91 meters (35'9.50") on his second attempt.
Alyssa Betz finished second in the women's shot put with a toss of 10.33 meters (33'10.75") on her second throw while
Lauren Assante was third at 9.86 meters (32'4.25") on her first throw.
Luke Tobin was second in the men's event with a season-best toss of 12.48 meters (40'11.50") on his fourth and final attempt while
Ian Paul was second with a season-best mark of 12.19 meters (40'0") on his third toss. Assante won the women's weight throw with a throw of 13.40 meters (43'11.75") on her second attempt.
Aonghas Evanick won the men's event at a career-best 14.63 meters (48'0") on his fourth throw. His mark is sixth on the top 10 list.
Sawicki set a new facility and school record in the pentathlon with a total of 3081 points while also qualifying for the MAC and AARTFC Championships in the event. She bested the previous school record of 3012 points by Alisha Farrell in 2011 and the facility record of 2349 points accomplished by Franklin & Marshall's Taylor Flatau in 2015.
Carolina Wegman was second with 2086 points. Sawicki started with a MAC qualifying time of 9.04 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles to score 767 points. She then jumped 1.53 meters (5'0.25") in the high jump to score 655 points, threw 10.33 meters (33'10.75") in the shot put to score 551 points, jumped 4.86 meters (15'11.50") in the long jump to score 522 points, and finished with a time of 2:38.85 in the 800 meters to score 586 points. Her 55 hurdles time is tied for fifth on the top 10 list. Wegman ran 11.06 seconds in the hurdles to score 401 points, also jumped 1.53 meters (5'0.25") in the high jump to score 655 points, threw 8.42 meters (27'7.5") in the shot put to score 427 points, jumped 4.59 meters (15'0.75") in the long jump to score 451 points, and ran 3:27.46 in the 800 to score 152 points.
Michajluk scored 4120 points in the heptathlon to break the facility record of 3747 points that was accomplished by Messiah's Richard Pennisi in 2012 and just missed the school record by 11 points. He also qualified for the MAC and AARTFC Championships in the event. Michajluk ran 7.05 seconds in the 55 meters to score 690 points, jumped 5.83 meters (19'1.50") in the long jump to score 550 points, and threw 12.29 meters (40'4") in the shot put to score 624 points. He then had a height of 1.89 meters (6'2.25") in the high jump to score 705 points, ran 9.13 in the 55 hurdles to score 576 points, vaulted 3.24 meters (10'7.50") in the pole vault to score 416 points, and ran 3:111.15 in the 1000 meters to score 559 points. His high jump height is ninth on the program's top 10 list.
Ethan Rush scored 3129 points to finish third. He started with a time of 7.32 in the 55 to score 601 points. He then recorded marks of 5.20 meters (17'0.75") in the long jump to score 421 points, 7.23 meters (23'8.75") in the shot put to score 321 points, and 1.62 meters (5'3.75") in the high jump to score 480 points. Rush ran 8.98 seconds in the 55 hurdles to score 607 points, cleared 2.44 meters (8'0") in the pole vault to score 229 points, and ran 3:21.41 in the 1000 to score 470 points.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will be back in action next Saturday at two separate meets. Most of the team will compete at the Moravian Indoor Meet being hosted at Lehigh's Rauch Fieldhouse while some members of the team will head to Selinsgrove for the River Hawk Invitational being hosted by Susquehanna University.
