FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Tennis team had a strong showing with four student-athletes competing on day one of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday at University of Mary Washington.
Sarah McComas dropped her first round singles match in the Championship bracket 6-0, 6-2 to ninth-seeded Ancele Dolensek of Carnegie Mellon University. McComas will play Eva Kading of Washington College on Sunday morning in the Consolation bracket.
Catherine Stone dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Ella Strickler of Swarthmore College at the bottom of the bracket. She will face Jacey Copeland of University of Mary Washington in the Consolation tomorrow morning.
Erika Badner won her first round matchup in the Blue 3 bracket 6-3, 6-2 over Katherine Raab from Salisbury University. Badner then fell in her second round match 6-2, 6-2 to Gigi Arenas of Stevens Institute of Technology.
In doubles action McComas and Stone won their first round match in the Championship bracket 8-7 (8-6) over Olivia Hall and Gibelle Beaujon of Salisbury. They then took on the ninth-seeded team of Angell Zoe and Rachel Li from Carnegie Mellon and dropped a hard-fought 8-1 decision. Badner and
Katie Berra dropped their first round match in the Blue bracket 8-4 to Washington College's Isabella Sorhegui and Sofia Sperandei. They will play Sarah Reich and Mikisha Thomas of Virginia Wesleyan University tomorrow morning in the consolation bracket.
Day two will begin early on Sunday morning with the first matches scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
