BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Lebanon Valley College junior
Laken Kelly earned a straight-sets victory at number six singles to give the women's tennis team a thrilling 4-3 win on Saturday afternoon at Bryn Mawr College.
The Flying Dutchmen won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Bryn Mawr won on court two before LVC rallied to win courts one and three. The teams split the six singles matches with the Dutchmen winning on courts one, five, and six. Lebanon Valley improved to 2-0 on the fall season with both matches coming down to the final singles court.
Inside the Box
- Nikki Denbowski and Victoria Latek won at third doubles to improve to 2-0 on the year with a 6-4 victory.
- Catherine Stone and Erika Badner clinched the doubles point at the top flight with a 6-4 win.
- Stone was the first singles court winner at number one with a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory for her second win of the fall.
- Maira McCartin gave the Dutchmen a 3-1 lead at number five singles as she won her first collegiate match with a 6-4, 6-3 win.
- Kelly was the last match to finish at number six as she ground out a 6-3, 7-5 victory for her first singles win of the year.
- Katie Berra went three sets at number four singles, dropping a hard-fought 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) decision.

LVC will be back on the courts this Wednesday, October 7, as they make the short trip to Middletown to take on Penn State Harrisburg at 4 p.m.
