Men’s Outdoor Track and Field have Strong Day at Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's outdoor track and field team put together another strong performance on Saturday as the team competed at the Messiah Invitational in Grantham.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND NEW QUALIFIERS
Owen Linder finished fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.05 seconds in the final after running an AARTFC-qualifying time of 10.97 seconds in the preliminaries. Colin Winters won his preliminary heat with a time of 11.06 seconds but did not run in the final. Matt Bruchak was a new MAC qualifier in the event after running 11.47 seconds. Bruchak also qualified for the MAC Championships in the 200 meters with a time of 22.96 seconds. Daniel Murtha also qualified for MACs with a time 23.29 seconds. Donovan Goundie finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 54.32 seconds. Ryan O'Byrne was seventh in the 800 meters as he crossed the line in 2:04.30. Lukas Walko ran 4:15.24 in the 1500 meters to finish sixth.
 
The Dutchmen had three of the top four in the 3000-steeplechase led by Donnie Miller in second with a time of 9:58.88. Eric Shelton was third in 10:11.41 while Noah Griffin qualified for MACs with a time of 10:18.39 to finish fourth. Murtha had the top 110 hurdles preliminary time of 15.02 seconds and then finished second in the final with a time of 14.93 seconds. Joshua Leidich qualified for the MAC Championships in the event with a time of 16.56 seconds in preliminaries. He then finished fifth in the final with a time of 16.47 seconds. Leidich also finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.64. The 4x100 meter relay team of Goundie, Alex Sabo, Linder, and Winters was second in the field of nine with a time of 43.72 seconds. LVC's 4x800 meter relay team of Walko, O'Byrne, Trevor Gipe, and Caleb Scarborough was second in the 8:27.15.
 
Grant Smith was fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.42 meters (11'2.5"). Ayden Stankus finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.98 meters (19'7.5") on his sixth jump. Aonghas Evanick finished fourth in the discus with a MAC-qualifying mark of 42.29 meters (138'9") on his second throw. Trey Reynolds won the hammer with a mark of 46.83 meters (153'8") on his first attempt. Nick Guerieri was third with a mark of 44.19 meters (145'0") on his first toss while Cody Shay was fourth with a throw of 44.03 meters (144'5") on his first try. Ian Paul won the javelin with a throw of 59.58 meters (195'6") on his first attempt. Guerieri was third with a toss of 52.51 meters (172'3") on his fifth throw. Sabo finished sixth with a mark of 43.93 meters (144'1") on his first attempt.
 
Graison Michajluk finished qualifying for the MAC Championships in the decathlon as he competed in four events on Saturday. He had a time of 12.05 seconds in the 100 meters, he ran 17.72 seconds in the 110 hurdles, he threw the discus 26.48 meters (86'10") and threw the javelin 40.06 meters (131'5").
 
INSIDE THE RECORD BOOKS
Linder joined the top 10 list in the 100 meters as his career best time of 10.97 seconds is seventh in the record books. Murtha ran a career best time of 14.93 seconds in the 110 hurdles which moves him up to fifth from eighth in the record books. Evanick joined the record books in the discus as his mark of 42.29 meters is seventh. Guerieri also entered the record books as his hammer throw of 44.19 meters is eighth on the top 10 list.

LVC will head to Widener University next weekend where they will compete at the two-day Widener Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
