Dutchmen Indoor Track and Field Begin Season Strong

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Indoor Track and Field Teams had a total of 53 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship qualifiers on Friday as the Dutchmen began the season at the Diplomat Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster.
 
Track Events
Colin Winters finished third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.00 seconds after running the second-fastest time in preliminaries at a MAC qualifying 6.98 seconds. His career-best time is second on the program Top 10 list and was also an AARTFC qualifier. Owen Linder also had a top finish in the event as he qualified for the final with a MAC qualifying time of 7.08 seconds and then finished fifth at a career-best 7.03 seconds. His final time is third in program history. Avrey Grimm also qualified for the MAC Championships with a time of 7.33 seconds. Ava Matter finished fourth in the women's race with a time of 8.26 seconds in the final after running MAC qualifying time of 8.17 seconds in the prelims. Her preliminary time is seventh on the program Top 10 list. Karina Reilly also qualified for the conference championship with a time of 8.51 seconds.
 
Mikayla Mitchell and Emma Bunty ran MAC qualifying time in the 60-meter hurdles. Mitchell finished third with a time of 10.02 seconds in the final after running a career-best time of 9.99 seconds in the prelims. Her career-best time is tied for fifth in program history. Bunty ran 10.61 to finish seventh in the final after running 10.51 seconds in the prelims.
 
The Dutchmen swept the 200 races as Linder won the men's race in a MAC qualifying, AARTFC qualifying, and career-best time of 22.47 seconds and Matter won the women's race in a MAC qualifying 27.18 seconds. Linder's time is third in program history while Matter's time is 10th on the women's Top 10 list. Donovan Goundie finished third for the men with a MAC qualifying time of 23.55 seconds while Matt Bruchak also qualified for MACs with a time of 23.87 seconds.
 
Charleigh Seifert qualified in the women's 400 meters with a time of 1:05.24 to finish sixth. The Dutchmen had the top three finishers in the men's mile with all three qualifying for the MAC Championships. Elijah McKell won in 4:31.33, Sam Rothstein was second in 4:32.49, and Eric Shelton was third in 4:32.83. LVC added three more MAC qualifiers in the men's 3000 meters. Matthew Santana finished third in 8:54.34, Andrew Namatka was seventh in 9:04.47, and Rothstein was eighth in 9:14.99. The distance team continued the strong meet in the 5000 meters as Joe Chukoskie finished second in a MAC and AARTFC qualifying 15:18.66. Samuel Bower was sixth with a MAC qualifying 16:13.21.
 
Field Events
The Dutchmen had six MAC qualifiers in the high jump. Graison Michajluk finished fourth for the men with a height of 1.82 meters (5'11.5") while Anna Sawicki led the women's team with a second place finish at 1.57 meters (5'1.75"). Her height is tied for the fifth best in program history. Carolina Wegman and Melena Koutch each finished at 1.47 meters (4'9.75"), Emily Oriel had a height of 1.42 meters (4'7.75") and Haley Thunberg finished with a height of 1.37 meters (4'6").
 
Ayden Stankus broke the school record in the pole vault with a height of 4.68 meters (15'4.25") to top the field while also qualifying for the MAC and AARTFC Championships. He bettered his previous best height of 4.56 meters (14'11.5") that he cleared at the NYU Invitational last winter. Grant Smith also qualified for MACs in the event with a height of 3.79 meters (12'5.25") to finish sixth. The women's team had three MAC qualifiers. Rachel Snavely led the way with a fourth place finish at 3.05 meters (10'0"). Hailee Kreiser was fifth at 2.90 meters (9'6.25") and Emma Evans was the third qualifier at 2.59 meters (8'6").
 
The women's team had five of the top six in the long jump with all five qualifying for MACs. Hailey Myers won with a jump of 4.82 meters (15'9.75") on her sixth attempt. Omotola Oyinkolade was second with a mark of 4.77 meters (15'7.75") on her fourth jump. Chloe Grady was third with a jump of 4.75 meters (15'7") on her second try. Wegman was fifth with a mark of 4.58 meters (15'0.5") on her third attempt and Sawicki was sixth with a jump of 4.57 meters (15'0") on her sixth try.
 
LVC added four more MAC qualifiers in the triple jump with four of the top five finisher. Oyinkolade was second with a mark of 10.25 meters (33'7.50") on her second attempt which is eighth on the program's Top 10 list. Grady recorded a mark of 9.96 meters (32'8.25") on her sixth jump to finish third. Thunberg was fourth with a jump of 9.94 meters (32'7.5") on her third try. Myers finished fifth at 9.87 meters (32'4.75") on her third jump.
 
The Dutchmen had 10 total MAC qualifiers in the shot put, five men and five women. Aonghas Evanick led the men's team in fourth place with a toss of 13.09 meters (42'11.50") on his third attempt. Nick Guerieri was fifth with a mark of 12.92 meters (42'4.75") on his second throw. Michajluk had a throw of 12.60 meters (41'4.25") on his third attempt, Luke Tobin threw 12.37 meters (40'7") on his second throw, and Ian Paul had a mark of 11.89 meters (39'0.25") on his third toss. The women were led by Alyssa Betz in fifth with a career best throw of 10.92 meters (35'10"). Her mark is 10th in program history. Sawicki had a mark of 10.08 meters (33'1") on her third throw, Lauren Assante threw 9.95 meters (32'7.75") on her second attempts, Greta Plechner had a mark of 9.93 meters (32'7") on her first try, and Josephine Connolly threw 9.49 meters (31'1.75") on her first attempt.
 
Assante qualified for the MAC and AARTFC Championships in the weight throw with a winning mark of 14.87 meters (48'9.5") on her third try. Evanick and Guerieri also qualified for MACs in the men's weight throw. Evanick had a mark of 14.09 meters (46'2.75") on his sixth attempt to finish fifth while Guerieri threw 13.72 meters (45'0.25") on his first throw.

The Dutchmen will be off until 2025 and will host the annual Dutchmen Invitational on Friday January 10, 2025 inside the Arnold Sports Center.
