Volleyball Set for MAC Freedom Championship

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Volleyball team will compete for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom championship this week as the fourth seed in the conference tournament after going 5-2 in conference play. The Dutchmen will take on top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening in Hoboken, N.J. while second-seeded DeSales University hosts third-seeded Misericordia in the other semifinal pairing.
 
LVC enters the conference tournament with a 15-12 overall record and 5-2 mark in conference matches. The Dutchmen defeated the Ducks on October 15 in a thrilling five-set victory handing Stevens their first-ever MAC Freedom loss at home. Last year the Dutchmen fell 3-1 to the Ducks in the MAC Freedom Championship match.  LVC's two conference losses were the first and last conference matches of the yar as they dropped a five-setter at DeSales back on September 25 and fell in four sets at Misericordia last week. DeSales defeated the Cougars in five sets at the beginning of October. Both matches tomorrow will begin at 7 p.m. with the winners meeting on Saturday at the site of the higher seed for the Championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Ticket prices for each game are set by the MAC office and are as follows:
Adults - $8
Seniors (65+) - $6
Youth (7-17) - $6
MAC Students s/ valid ID - FREE
6 and under w/ Adult – FREE
 
The Dutchmen had been led this year by outside hitters Taylor McInerney and Mattea Penner. McInerney leads the conference with 3.84 kills per set and totaled 334 kills with a .311 hitting percentage in 25 matches played. The graduate student has 27 total blocks and 62 digs defensively. Penner is second on the team with 318.5 total points on 259 kills, a team-leading 46 service aces, 21 assists, 225 digs, and 23 total blocks.
 
Libby Lindau is third on the team with 236.5 points on 203 kills, 12 aces, 54 digs, 37 total blocks, and six assists. Teaguen Reynolds leads the defense with 70 total blocks and 45 digs with 101 kills and 40 service aces. Margaret Cole is fifth on the team with 100 kills and second on the team with 59 total blocks. The junior also has 27 digs, six assists and three aces.
 
Abigail Souder leads the team with 330 digs as the libero. The senior also has recorded 67 assists and 33 aces. Sofia Okronley leads the squad with 346 assists and adds 31 service aces with 184 digs to her resume. Jasmine Sullivan has 250 assists and 42 aces to go along with 61 digs. Lyla Arfanella has been a strong server with 38 aces. The sophomore also has 155 digs. Jillian Jefferys has provided the Dutchmen with 73 kills, and 26 total blocks while Riley Mack adds 60 kills, 38 digs, six blocks, and six aces.
 
LVC is ranked 29th in the nation is team service aces with 272 and is third in the conference with a .211 team hitting percentage.
