Three Dutchmen Selected to All-MAC Freedom Women’s Volleyball Team

NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team received some postseason awards from the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) on Monday, Nov. 17, as the conference office announced that three members of the program were named to the All-MAC Freedom Women's Volleyball Team for their productive years. Senior outside hitter Mattea Penner was recognized on the First Team, while sophomore libero Kylie Nagle and sophomore opposite hitter Jillian Jefferys were listed on the Second Team.  

Penner received All-MAC Freedom honors for the second time in her career, as she was chosen to the Second Team last fall. This season, the outside hitter led the Dutchmen with 375 points, 3.79 points per set, 322 kills, 3.25 kills per set, 39 aces, a hitting percentage of .248, and 274 digs. She was also second on the team with 2.77 digs per set. In the MAC Freedom during the regular season, Penner ranked first in kills, kills per set, and points per set, while ranking second in the conference in points. The senior's top performances of the season included when she posted career-highs with 27 kills and 34.5 points, while logging a season-high five aces and tallying 15 digs in LVC's 3-2 victory over MAC Commonwealth Champion Stevenson University on Nov. 1. Penner also recorded 23 kills, 27.5 points, three aces, and 15 digs in the 3-2 win over Eastern University on Oct. 4. The outside hitter was recognized for her success during the campaign, earning the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week award on Oct. 7 and Nov. 4. 

Nagle was selected to the All-MAC Freedom Team after a stellar first year with Lebanon Valley. Nagle led the Flying Dutchmen with 2.97 digs per set, while ranking second on the team with 267 digs, fourth on the squad with 63 assists, and fourth on LVC with 26 aces. Nagle contributed to several wins during the fall, including when she tallied a season-high 29 digs and had four assists with one kill in the 3-1 victory at FDU-Florham on Sept. 24. Additionally, the libero had 21 digs with two assists and an ace in the 3-1 win over Arcadia University on Oct. 8. The sophomore was presented with an award for her contributions during the season, receiving MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 30.  

Jefferys earned All-Conference recognition for the first time in her career, following a strong sophomore season. The opposite hitter ranked second on Lebanon Valley with 216 points, 2.84 points per set, 188 kills, and 2.47 kills per set. Jefferys also ranked fourth on the team with 51 blocks and recorded 22 digs during the season. The sophomore was a key contributor for Lebanon Valley in many matches this year, including when she registered a career-high 14 kills in the 3-0 victory at King's College on Oct. 14, as well as the 3-2 win over York College of Pennsylvania and the 3-0 victory over Neumann University on Oct. 18. During the win over York, Jefferys also logged a career-high 17 points, four total blocks, and a dig. The opposite hitter was honored for her efforts with the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week award on Oct. 21.
