ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley volleyball team had four student-athletes named Academic All-District® by College Sports Communicators (CSC) in a release by the professional organization this week.
The Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and have played in 90 percent of games or started in 66 percent of games this fall, with a limit of four nominations per school. Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
The four Dutchmen who were honored are
Margaret Cole,
Jillian Jefferys,
Sofia Okronley, and
Mattea Penner.
Cole is a senior Early Childhood Education and Special Education major from New Market, Maryland. The middle hitter played in 26 matches and made 25 starts. She recorded 109.5 points on 78 kills and 56 total blocks. This is her third consecutive year earning Academic All-District honors.
Jefferys is a sophomore Neuroscience major from Warrington, Pennsylvania. The opposite hitter played in 23 matches and made 18 starts this fall and earned All-MAC Freedom Second Team honors. She recorded 216 points on 188 kills and 51 total blocks while being named conference Offensive Player of the Week once. This is her first career Academic All-District honor.
Okronley is a junior Criminal Justice major from Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania. The setter played in 25 matches and made 20 starts. She recorded 32.5 points with 468 assists, six kills, 24 service aces, and five total blocks. This is her first career Academic All-District honor.
Penner is a senior Early Childhood Education and Special Education major from Newville, Pennsylvania. The outside hitter started all 27 games and earned All-MAC Freedom First Team honors. She recorded 375 points on 322 kills, 39 service aces, and 22 total blocks while earning conference Offensive Player of the Week honors twice. This is her second consecutive year earning Academic All-District honors.
