9/29/2023 9:40:00 PM

MADISON, N.J. – Adam Warren won his first round match on a rainy day in Madison, New Jersey to highlight the first day of action for the Lebanon Valley men's tennis team at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships hosted by Drew University.

Warren defeated David Kataan from Yeshiva University 8-4 in the first round of the singles main draw. The junior will face a familiar opponent in the round of 16 on Saturday in TCNJ's Matt Michibata who won his first round matchup 8-5 over Union's Solen Belamire. Michibata, who is seeded third in the field, defeated Warren 6-1, 6-1 in the first round last fall. Michibata finished the year ranked 31st in the nation in singles.

Jesse Beck also competed in the singles main draw and dropped a hard-fought 8-4 decision to August LePique of SUNY Oneonta. Beck and Warren then played in the first round of the doubles main draw on Friday night against TCNJ's Asa Wong and Bret Schuster. The Dutchmen put up a great battle against the Lions but it was Wong and Schuster who advanced to Saturday with an 8-5 victory.

Warren will be back in action on Saturday with the main draw singles play to start at 9 a.m. Michael Schuetz and Ethan Luu are also scheduled to compete in the doubles B draw depending on weather and court availability.
