Men’s Tennis Starts Postseason Run on Tuesday

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team will look to win their second consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth title this week after earning the top seed with an undefeated conference regular season.
 
The Dutchmen are having a great year and are 15-3 with a 7-0 record in conference matches. They will take on fourth-seeded York College of Pennsylvania on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Shankroff Tennis Center. Second-seeded Stevenson University will play third-seeded Messiah University in the other semifinal match. The winners will play for the Championship on Saturday at the site of the higher seed.
 
LVC defeated York 7-2 on the road back on April 8. They took down Messiah 7-2 on April 14 in Annville and earned a thrilling 6-3 victory over Stevenson last Friday to win the regular season title. Lebanon Valley has recorded an 18-2 record in doubles during conference play and 34-5 mark in singles this season.
 
Justin Schuetz has gone a perfect 7-0 in the top singles flight as the defending Player of the Year. The senior has not dropped a set during his undefeated run and has won his last nine matches. Adam Warren is 5-2 during conference play at number two singles. His only two losses came in three set marathon matches against Messiah and Stevenson. Jeffrey Bauer has been a force at number three singles with a 6-1 conference record. His only loss came on Friday against Stevenson when he forced to retire due to a small injury.
 
Brady McLucas has won his last three matches and went 4-1 during conference play at number four. The junior's only loss was to York's Ben Dorsey. McLucas has won two of his last three matches in three sets. Jesse Beck is 5-1 during conference play at number five singles including winning his last four matches. The newcomer will look to avenge his only loss on Tuesday. He dropped a tough three-setter to York's Jason Lutz in the regular season matchup. Brendan Byler has been dominant at number six with a perfect 11-0 record in duals this year including a 6-0 record against conference opponents. He has a 15-2 overall dual record and hasn't given up more than four points in a set during conference play.
 
In doubles, the Dutchmen will have Schuetz and Warren at number one, Beck and Byler at number two, and Bauer and McLucas at number three. The number one flight of Schuetz and Warren has gone 4-2 in conference play with their only losses coming in extremely close matches against Messiah and Stevenson. Beck and Byler have recorded an 8-1 dual record at number two including a perfect 5-0 in conference matches. Bauer and McLucas are undefeated in duals at number three with a 7-0 record including 5-0 in conference.
