Sabo and Wegman Have Strong Start at Messiah Multi

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Alex Sabo and Carolina Wegman had a great start on the first day of the Messiah Multi for the Lebanon Valley outdoor track and field team. Sabo is fifth through five events in the decathlon while Wegman is 16th through four events in the heptathlon.
 
Sabo has scored 3003 points and is just six points shy of fourth. He started the afternoon with a career best time of 11.37 seconds in the 100 meters to score 780 points. In the second event, the long jump, he recorded a mark of 6.13 meters (20'1.50") to score 615 points. Sabo then threw the shot put 11.83 meters (38'9.75") to score 596 points. In the final field event of the day the jumped 1.67 meters (5'5.75") in the high jump to score 520 points. He finished the day with a time of 57.78 seconds in the 400 meters to score 492 points. Sabo will wrap up the decathlon on Friday with the 110 hurdles, the discus, the pole vault, and the javelin.
 
Wegman has 1664 points through the first four events of the heptathlon. The first-year began the afternoon with a time of 20.53 seconds in the 100 hurdles to score 260 points. She had a height of 1.47 meters (4'9.75") in the high jump to score 588 points. Wegman then threw the shot put a season-best 8.61 meters (28'3") to score 439 points. She finished the day with a time of 31.58 seconds in the 200 meters to score 377 points. Wegman will wrap up the heptathlon tomorrow afternoon with the long jump, javelin, and 800 meters.
 
The Dutchmen will continue action at Messiah tomorrow afternoon which will also include the discus and 10K run on the track in the evening.
