ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team will head south to Baltimore, Maryland this weekend to compete in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009. The Dutchmen will face Goucher College in the First Round of the Regional hosted by Johns Hopkins University.
LVC won the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth title on Sunday with a 5-2 win over Stevenson University to earn an automatic bid into the field. The Duchmen are 16-6 this season and went 7-0 in conference matches. Goucher won the Landmark Conference with a 5-4 win at Drew on Sunday. The Gophers are 12-7 this year and went 6-1 in Landmark matches with their only loss coming to Drew.
The winner of Friday's match will play Tufts on Saturday in the second round. LVC and Goucher will square off on Friday morning at 10 a.m. on the courts of Johns Hopkins. Live Stats, video, and other information can be found on the
Regional Championship Central Page. In even of bad weather the match will be moved indoors to Coppermine Pikesville and will be played at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Saturday's match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at JHU. It will be at the Navy Tennis Center and at 1 p.m. if it needs to be moved indoors.
This is the third-ever meeting between the programs. Goucher won the first meeting in 2001. The Dutchmen won the most recent meeting in 2010 by an 8-1 score in Townson, Maryland.
