Dutchmen Women’s Tennis Set To Face SUNY Oneonta In NCAA First Round

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Fresh off winning the program's third Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth title, the Lebanon Valley College women's tennis team will head west to Cleveland, Ohio for the opening rounds of NCAA Tournament this weekend.
 
LVC will square off against SUNY Oneonta on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the first round. The winner will face fourth-ranked Claremont Mudd-Scrips in the second round on Friday. Live Stats will be provided of all matches this weekend by the host school Case Western Reserve University. Information can be found on the Regional Championship Central Page. In event of bad weather matches will be moved indoors to the Mayfield Village Racquet Club on Thursday and Saturday, and the LaTuchie Tennis Center on Friday.
 
The Dutchmen were an automatic qualifier for the tournament after winning the MAC Commonwealth Championships on Sunday with a 5-3 victory over York. LVC is 15-4 on the year and went 7-0 in conference play during the regular season. They will face the Red Dragons on SUNY Oneonta who are making their first-ever NCAA appearance after winning the SUNYAC title on Saturday with a 5-4 win over SUNY New Paltz in the Championship match. The Red Dragons are 17-6 on the season and went 6-1 in conference play with their only loss coming on the final match of the regular season to New Paltz.
 
This is the first-ever meeting between the programs. LVC and SUNY Oneonta have one common opponent this spring in Wilkes University. The Dutchmen began the spring season with a hard-fought 5-4 defeat to the Colonels indoors back in February. Oneonta traveled to Wilkes in early April and defeated the Colonels 6-3.
