M. Tennis Competes at MAC Individuals

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.
 – Lebanon Valley's Men's Tennis team competed at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championships this weekend in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

In singles action, three Dutchmen made the semifinals. Jeffrey Bauer advanced to the semis of #2 singles after a 4-0, 4-0 sweep in the first round over Arcadia followed by a three-set victory against Wilkes. Bauer's run would come to an end at the hands of eventual champion Matthew Luzzi from Stevens. In #4 singles, Brady McLucas won his opening round matchup with Lycoming in three sets before cruising to a 4-0, 4-1 win over Messiah to advance to the semis. McLucas would fall to eventual champion Andrew He of Stevens in the semifinals. The final semifinalist was Michael Schuetz at #5 singles. He won 4-1, 4-0 over Alvernia in the first round before topping Arcadia 4-2, 4-2. He would fall to Stevens' Olof Persson in the semifinals, Persson would go on to win the title.
 
In doubles play, the Dutchmen reached the finals at #1 doubles and the semifinals at #2 and #3 doubles. At #1 doubles, the duo of Justin Schuetz and Adam Warren would reach the championship match. The defeated Wilkes 8-6 in the opening round followed by an 8-5 win over Alvernia to reach the semis. In the semifinals, the duo topped FDU-Florham 8-6 to reach the finals. The run would come to an end as Schuetz and Warren fell 8-4 to Morris/Feliu of Stevens in the championship. At #2 doubles, Bauer and Brendan Byler reached the semis following a tiebreaker win over Alvernia in the first round and an 8-2 victory over Lycoming in the quarterfinals. The duo would fall to Klakarni/Persson from Stevens, who would go on to claim the title. Finally at #3 doubles, M. Schuetz and William Harriger reached the semifinals. They swept King's 8-0 in the first round before picking up an 8-5 victory over Messiah to reach the semis. The duo would fall to Wilkes in the semis to close out the tournament for the Dutchmen.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action this Wednesday when they travel to take on Penn State Harrisburg at 3:30 p.m. in Middletown, Pa.
