COMPLETE RESULTS

LEBANON, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's and women's cross country teams were impressive in the 48th annual LVC Dutchmen Invitation on Saturday morning at Union Canal Tunnel Park. The Dutchmen women finished second overall out of 21 schools, led by individual winner Lauren Wick, while the men took third place at the invite out of 22 schools.

Seven regionally ranked teams competed on the women's side, while four regionally ranked teams took part in thte invite on the men's side.

On the women's side, Wick blew away the field to take the individual title as she finished the 5K race in 18:42.50, 33.90 seconds faster than the second-place runner. Lauren Bunke also had a strong performance as she narrowly missed out on a top-ten finish as she crossed the line in 11th at 19:50.60.

Julia Resele (20:09.60) and Abigail Browne (20:18.50) picked up top-20 finishes with a 16th and 19th place finish respectively. Rounding out the top-five scorers for LVC, Marah Hoffman finished in 21:00.20.

Messiah placed first as a team on the women's side, followed by the Dutchmen in second and Ursinus in third.

"Honestly, a little surprised at just how well my ladies ran today," said head coach James O'Brien '07, M'16.  "With 7 regionally-ranked programs competing we knew this would be a test for us.  We've got some gamers in this group and I like it.   Our tight pack of Bunke, Resele & Browne kept our team score low and we've got nice clusters throughout the rest of our team.  I'm very excited to get back to work and see how much we can continue to improve."

On the men's side, LVC took third in their first race of 2021, led by Noah Griffin who paced the Dutchmen with a third-place finish, crossing the line at 26:53.60 in the 8K race. Andrew Loy (27:33.70), Jeffrey Campagna (27:38.20), and Jordan Berger (27:40.00) all picked up top-20 finished at 15th, 18th, and 20th respectively. Tanner Haynes rounded out the scoring for the men finishing with a time of 28:10.20.

Messiah took first as a team on the men's side, followed by Ursinus and then the Dutchmen rounding out the top three squads.

"This was a solid result for our men," said Coach O'Brien. "I know they wanted a bit more on the day and I feel like that is within our grasp too.  Very pleased with how many newcomers we had compete well in their first 8K.  I like everything that I'm seeing with this group in terms of work ethic and intentionality, and I know the results we are aiming for are coming soon."
