ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley College has announced the hiring of
AJ Mott as the Flying Dutchmen's next strength and conditioning coach.
"I'm very excited about the addition of AJ as our head strength and conditioning coach," said LVC Director of Athletics Rick Beard 90, M'92. "I was impressed with his energy and enthusiasm, and he'll be a tremendous asset for our student-athletes and coaches."
Mott joins LVC with nearly eight years' experience in the strength and conditioning field. His most recent position was at Western Colorado University where he was the head S&C coach. He worked with the football, wrestling, women's basketball, and cheerleading programs, and his responsibilities included overseeing programming, weight room scheduling, and enhancing athlete movement patterns among others.
"I want to thank Mr. Beard and the search committee for the opportunity to join the LVC Athletic Department," said Mott. "I am excited to get to work!"
Mott has earned several professional certifications from a variety of respected health organizations, including USA Weight Lifting Level One Coach, NSCA: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and CPR/AED.
Prior to his time with the Mountaineers, Mott worked as the head strength and conditioning coach at FDU-Florham from 2016 through the summer of 2020. He designed, implemented, and oversaw S&C programs for all 19 sports and performed day-to-day tasks for the Devils. While working in Madison, N.J., Mott also obtained a Masters Degree in sport administration.
In 2016, Mott worked as an Olympic strength and conditioning assistant at the University of North Carolina and also spend that summer working as a strength and conditioning football spotting intern at the University of South Carolina.
Mott graduated from Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in health promotion with a concentration in Kinesiology. He was a member of the wrestling team and in 2015, he was named an NAIA Daktronics Academic All-American and earned the Champion of Character Award, as well as the Kinesiology and Health Promotion Outstanding Senior Academic Achievement.
