ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field teams will open up 2021 action this afternoon when the Flying Dutchmen travel to Grantham to partake in Messiah University's Invitational starting at 4 p.m.

"We've missed two seasons, but everybody is excited to compete," said head coach
Melissa Byler. "The team has poured a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in the offseason. From a coach's perspective, I'm excited to be able to offer the kids an opportunity to compete. We want to make sure they have as many chances to compete as possible. Since it's been so long, we're not sure what our expectations are despite everyone's hard work."

Key Returning Performers – Women
Among the leading returners who have scored points at past conference championships include
Keri Jones (middle distance) and
Lauren Wick (long distance). Also returning in the throws is
McKenna Loughney,
Alexis Thomas, and
Ashley Bartels.

At the MAC Indoor Championships in in February of 2020, Jones won gold in the 3,000-meter run and was a part of the bronze-winning 4,000-meter DMR squad. In the weight throw at MAC's, Bartels earned points for LVC with a sixth-place finish, while Loughney and Thomas also earned points for LVC.
Anne Baney is also back to compete in the multi after helping the Dutchmen earn points at indoor MAC's in 2020.

Key Returning Performers – Men
On the men's side,
Owen Buhr and
Logan Grauer (sprints and hurdles) look to continue their stellar careers, as do Kaden Smith (hurdles),
Zach Reed (hurdles and sprints),
Noah Griffin (distance),
Caleb Cekella (high jump),
Josh Otto (horizontal jumps), and
Robert Shoff (horizontal jumps).

At the 2020 Indoor MAC Championships, Buhr earned silver in the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles, while Buhr, Reed, Grauer, and Otto took home bronze in the 4x200 relay. In the 60-meter hurdles, Smith also earned points for the Dutchmen with a fourth-place finish.

In the 5,000-meter run, Griffin took sixth at MAC's to earn points for the Dutchmen, and Cekella also earned points for LVC in the high jump with a sixth-place finish. Otto earned points in the long jump and took home bronze in the triple jump for the Dutchmen, while Shoff gave LVC some points in the triple jump a well.

2021 Schedule
The Dutchmen will be competing in several events, including two home meets on March 27 and April 17. The 2021 MAC Outdoor Championships are set for May 6-8 at Widener University.
