Dutchmen Throwers Earn Second Team All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Lebanon Valley throwers Nick Guerieri, Michael De Falcis, and Ian Paul finished the year by earning Second Team All-America honors in the javelin on a cold and wet night at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
 
Guerieri just missed qualifying for the finals and finished 10th with a throw of 59.79 meters (196'2") on his first attempt. De Falcis was 11th with a toss of 59.43 meters (194'11") on his third throw while Paul finished 14th with a mark of 57.56 meters (188'10") on his second try. Wheaton College (Mass.) first-year Scott Sloan topped the field with a season-best throw of 67.97 meters (223'0") on his sixth and final attempt of the night. Rowan sophomore Damitrius Hester was second with a career-best toss of 66.55 meters (218'4") on his fifth attempt. Ursinus sophomore Jayden McKeen was third with a mark of 66.08 meters (216'9") on his sixth throw.
 
Guerieri started off strong with his best throw of the night of 59.79 meters (196'2") on his first attempt. His second attempt went 54.00 meters (177'2") while his third attempt went 53.37 meters (175'1"). De Falcis recorded a mark of 57.76 meters (189'6") on his first attempt. His second attempt went a little further at 58.78 meters (192'10") before he finished with his best throw of 59.43 meters (194'11") on his third attempt. Paul started off with a toss of 55.05 meters (180'7"). His second attempt was his best of the evening at 57.56 meters (188'10") before he finished with a mark of 55.21 meters (181'1") on his final try.
 
The Dutchmen now have 13 All-Americans in program history with eight of them coming in the javelin. Paul earns Second Team honors for the second consecutive season while De Falcis earns All-America honors in his second trip to the National Championships and Guerieri earns the honor in his first trip. This is the first year LVC has earned multiple All-American honors at one Championship since 1998 when Pat Loughney and Tony Bernarduci were All-Americans in the javelin and Rick Hopf earned honors in the high jump.
