FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Earlier this month at the ITA Regional Tournament, several Dutchmen competed for LVC Men's Tennis team as the squad wrapped up the fall portion of its 2021-22 season.
In the B7 singles,
Justin Schuetz took down St. Mary's (Md.) Samuel Sheats 6-3 in the opening round before defeating SU's Wayne Russell 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the championship match where he took down HSC's Tyler Brice 6-3, 6-3 and was crowned the champion.
In the B8 singles, Jeff Bauer advanced to the finals of the consolations, but fell to WC's Christian Gruyon 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.
Bauer and
Brendan Byler teamed up in the B2 doubles, but dropped an 8-5 match to St. Mary's Keawe Shepherd-Johnson and Pratt 8-5 in the round of 16. The pair then advanced to the semifinals after defeating Randolph-Macon 8-7(0) in the quarters. Also in B2 doubles, Schuetz and
Adam Warren fell in the round of 16 to Virginia Wesleyan's C. Perry and Challagundla 8-5. In the consolation round, Schuetz and Warren took down Stevenson's Sandidas and Smialek 8-3, but fell 8-5 in the semifinal round to St. Mary's Sheats and Vanalkenburg 8-5.
The Dutchmen are now idle until their spring season begins in early 2022.
