FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team competed at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional this past weekend in Fredericksburg, Va. hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
Nicholas Balaci and
Reed Morris competed in B2 doubles while Justin Scheutz and
Blake Martin competed at B3 and B4 singles respectively.
At B2 doubles, the combo of Balaci/Morris had a strong showing as they progressed all the way to the semifinals in their bracket. In the opening round, the two powered by Wilkes in tough 8-7 contest. Next round, the Dutchmen duo blew by Stevenson 8-3 to advance to the semis of the B2 bracket. The run for Balaci and Morris would eventually come to an end to the hands of Patrick Conde and Andrew Donelston from Hampden-Sydney College in a closely-contested 8-6 match.
Scheutz represented the Dutchmen in B3 singles but would fall to eventual champion Ethan Sherwood of Southern Virginia University, 6-1, 6-1. In B4 singles, Martin would drop a tough match to Stevenson's Raymond McDermott, 6-3, 6-1.
The Dutchmen will compete at the MAC Individual Championships this weekend in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
