ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's tennis team earned its first MAC Commonwealth victory of the spring season with a convincing 8-1 victory over conference foe Hood at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon, April 11.
 
The Flying Dutchmen (5-6, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) grabbed the early advantage with a pair of doubles wins. Marla Scacchitti and Melanie Haas combined for an 8-1 victory in the No. 1 contest, while Emily Wilczek and Elise Hanks-Witaszek came away with an 8-1 win in the third doubles outing.
 
LVC was a perfect 6-for-6 in singles action, with Scacchitti going over Hood's Michelle Shedd 6-3, 6-1 in the top solo match Haas, Elizabeth Drda, and Megan Williams picking up 6-4, 6-3 victories in the No. 2, 3, and 4 outings, respectively. Meridyth Sanders swept Kara Conway 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth singles competition and Hanks-Witaszek won her rare solo contest 6-1, 6-1 in the sixth spot.
 
It's right back to work for LVC as the Dutchmen will play their second conference match in as many days when they travel to Lycoming on Thursday afternoon, April 12.
